Collaborative Instructional Position Statement

Purpose & Intent

This statement clarifies the instructional relationship between the Broadcasting course and the Live Production & Event Technology pathway. While both courses align to the Georgia Audio/Video Technology & Film standards, they serve distinct instructional purposes and operate within clearly defined environments.

The intent of this collaboration is to strengthen student learning, protect instructional boundaries, and ensure that no course replaces or competes with the other.

Shared Standards, Different Outcomes

Both courses appropriately align to Georgia’s Audio/Video Technology & Film standards. This shared alignment reflects the broad scope of the industry, not duplication of instruction.

Broadcasting emphasizes communication, journalism, and media storytelling. Live Production emphasizes operational execution, safety, and real-time technical coordination.

Collaboration Model

This model mirrors professional production environments and reinforces career readiness.

Instructional Boundaries & Authority

Each course retains full instructional authority over its curriculum. Students do not cross-teach or operate outside their approved scope.

Live Production students do not replace Broadcasting instruction, and Broadcasting students do not operate production systems without authorization. Safety-related instructions from supervising staff always take priority.
